PSJA ISD to offer free breakfast, lunch meals for children ages 18 and under through 2024 Summer Meals Program
Program in partnership with Texas Department of Agriculture
PHARR - Starting Monday, June 10, 2024, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) will connect children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old with free breakfast and lunch meals this summer.
Meals will be served at all open sites from June 10 - June 27 and July 29 - August 15. Serving times for breakfast are from 7:30 am to 8:30 am and lunch is from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm but times for community sites may vary.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a US Department of Agriculture nutrition program administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).
“PSJA ISD students need year-round support, and our Child Nutrition staff is ready to assist,” said PSJA Child Nutrition Administrator Pedro Contreras. “With nearly 2 million food-insecure children in Texas, these nutritious meals are essential for nourishing our students during the summer break.”
As part of the 2024 Summer Meals Program from the Texas Department of Agriculture, children 18 years old and younger can receive free breakfast and lunch meals at 42 PSJA ISD schools and community sites throughout the summer.
Meals will be available at all PSJA ISD elementary, middle, and high schools hosting summer school programs, as well as at various additional locations throughout the community. Additionally, the Meals on Wheels service will be available at select sites.
